Family is at the very heart of so many of my children’s book illustrations!
I love illustrating the small interactions that make families special: a grandfather teaching a recipe, siblings creating together, parents sharing traditions, or a curious dog becoming part of the story.
Working in an organic charcoal-inspired style blended with rich color and texture, I create scenes that feel both timeless and alive.
As both a children’s book illustrator and longtime Visual Arts educator, I believe family-centered stories help children feel seen, safe, and inspired.
My goal is to create illustrations that are emotional, expressive, and full of life, artwork that invites readers of all ages to step into meaningful moments together.

I am a Cuban-born, Houston, Texas-based children’s book illustrator, author, and longtime Visual Arts educator in Houston with over 30 years of experience inspiring young artists and storytellers. My illustrations are known for their organic, charcoal-inspired style layered with vibrant color, rich texture, warmth, and emotion. Through my work, I celebrate family, imagination, science, reading, heritage and the meaningful everyday moments that connect us all, creating visual stories that invite children to explore, learn, and dream.
