Dinosaurs! They’ve followed me from childhood straight into adulthood, and living in Texas only makes the obsession stronger.

Sure, much of this land was once underwater, but that didn’t stop it from being home to gigantic dinosaurs and massive marine reptiles swimming through a warm, shallow sea, or roaming the nearby shores and riverbeds in a world that feels almost impossible to imagine today.

While mosasaurs, plesiosaurs, ammonites, and ancient fish swam the warm sea, massive dinos trudged across the muddy flats. Today, their footprints remain stamped into our limestone like ancient autographs.

As an illustrator, these ancient layers of Texas history are my daily inspiration. Every ridge, canyon, and fossil bed reminds me that I’m drawing on land shaped by giants, both those that walked and those that swam.

Dinosaurs have marched, stomped, and soared through my sketchbooks since childhood, and today they’ve evolved into one of my greatest artistic passions: illustrating vibrant, joyful picture books for readers of all ages.

The Science

My artwork is colorful, vibrant, and full of artistic expression, but it’s also firmly rooted in science. When I illustrate dinosaurs, I stick closely to what paleontologists know about real dino structure, bone anatomy, posture, and movement. I want young readers to enjoy bold colors and imaginative details, but still recognize the true form of these incredible creatures.

Rather than turning dinosaurs into overly goofy or cartoonish characters, I aim for a balance: fun and visually exciting, yet scientifically respectful. My goal is for kids to make a real connection between art and science, to see accurate shapes, believable anatomy, and authentic features presented in a way that’s engaging, age-appropriate, and inspiring.

In other words: creative, colorful dinos… grounded in real science.
