Children’s Book Illustration
Welcome to my page all about children’s book illustration! One of my absolute favorite things is bringing stories to life with fun, colorful drawings for kids. In the magical world of children’s books, it’s the pictures that make the words truly sparkle!

“Ooh-Ooh-Ah-Ah!”

My Style
My illustration style is an eclectic mix of minimalism and playful detail — a blend that feels both clean and full of life. At first glance, the artwork feels simple and inviting, with bright colors, cheerful characters, and easy-to-read compositions. Look closer, you’ll spot tiny, delightful surprises tucked into the scenes: a hidden flower, a playful leaf swirl, or a mischievous glint in a character’s eye.
Spotlighted
My children’s book illustrations are defined by a bold, colorful, minimalist and yet detailed fun aesthetic that aims to capture the hearts and imaginations of young readers.

I love balancing bold, clear shapes with unexpected bits of intricate charm that invite young readers (and grown-ups!) to linger a little longer on each page.

Meet the Mischievous Monster You’ll Love to Blame!
What happens when crayons go missing, homework gets crumpled, and crumbs mysteriously appear? In the book, the culprit is clear—it’s the mischievous little monster that Ana Beatriz Huerta dreamed up and I, her dad, had the honor of illustrating. This book isn’t just about entertainment—it’s also an incredible resource for English Language Arts teachers and parents. The “before reading” questions invite kids to predict and imagine, while the “after reading” enrichment activities inspire creativity and critical thinking. Check out the article here! Learn more »

Children’s book illustration is a captivating art form that I love because it goes beyond decoration; it is a crucial element that breathes life into stories and shapes the early experiences of young readers.

Big Dreams, Little Hands!
Children’s books that highlight trades and jobs, such as being a chef, carpenter, or firefighter, play an essential role in inspiring young readers and expanding their understanding of the world around them. These stories introduce children to different professions in a fun, relatable way, sparking curiosity and helping them envision possibilities for their own future.

By showing the value of various skills and roles, these books encourage respect for diverse types of work and promote the idea that everyone’s contribution is important. They can also foster empathy and an appreciation for teamwork by illustrating the challenges and rewards that come with different jobs.

Whether through hands-on activities, like learning simple recipes in a book about chefs, or learning about teamwork in a firefighter story, these books help children build confidence, dream big, and appreciate the range of exciting paths they might explore as they grow up.
